Remains of missing London man found in Thames Centre

The four-year search for a missing London man has come to a tragic end.

London police have confirmed that the human remains discovered on February 15 in Thames Centre were those of Tyler McMichael.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said foul play is not suspected, and no further information will be provided.

McMichael was reported missing in May 2019, having last been seen in the area of Commissioners Road and Wellington Road. The father of the deceased said McMichael had planned to ride his bike to Chatham-Kent on the day he went missing.

McMichael was 20-years-old at the time of his disappearance.

The search for McMichael continued in the ensuing years.  In May 2020, one year after he went missing, McMichael's family asked residents from London to Chatham-Kent to leave their porch light on overnight in a symbolic way of guiding the young man back home.

On the third anniversary of his disappearance, police renewed their call to the public for help locating McMichael.
