Gordon Lightfoot dead at 84

Canadian folk singer songwriter Gordon Lightfoot has passed away.

The legendary singer died at a Toronto hospital at age 84 Monday evening according to a family representative. Lightfoot is know for many classic ballads including If You Could Read My Mind, Sundown and The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. 

Lightfoot's cause of death has not been made available. Last month, his team announced the cancellation of his 2023 Canadian and U.S. tour due to "health related issues."

Lightfoot, who was born in Orillia, Ontario, rose to fame in the 1960s following the debut of his 1965 album Lightfoot! 

He later made his way on the Billboard chart in 1971 with If You Could Read My Mind. 

Lightfoot is survived by his wife, Kim Hasse, his six children, and several grandchildren.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
