Chatham man charged after allegedly trying to escape police while being arrested 

A 41-year-old Chatham man is in even more trouble with the law after allegedly trying to resist arrest and escape from the police.

Police responded to a suspicious person call in the area of King Street West in Chatham at around 5:40 p.m. on Saturday.

Officers said they located a man who provided several fake names in an attempt to disguise his identity.

After some investigation, police ascertained the man's real identity which revealed he was wanted for several outstanding warrants.

Police said the man actively resisted officers and attempted to escape while being arrested.

The 41-year-old was transported to police headquarters, charged, and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested after allegedly riding a bicycle while carrying a long gun in Chatham 

A 47-year-old Chatham man is facing charges after allegedly riding a bicycle with a long gun under his arm.

Police said they received a report about the man riding his bike on Princess Street North in Chatham just after 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Officers responded right away and located the man attempting to leave a nearby residence.

The man was arrested by police and two air rifles were seized at the scene.

The 47-year-old was charged with two counts of possessing a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.

The man was transported to police headquarters where he was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
