Police find suspected crystal meth during traffic stop

A 52-year-old woman is facing a pair of charges after police made a pair of discoveries during a traffic stop in Chatham early Tuesday morning.

Chatham-Kent police said they pulled a vehicle over on Park Avenue East at around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday and learned that one of the passengers in the vehicle was bound by conditions not to communicate with the driver.

When the passenger was being searched, police also allegedly found some suspected crystal methamphetamine in her possession.

A 52-year-old woman was charged with failing to comply with her release conditions and drug possession.

She was later released with a future court date.

Woman accused of assaulting two staff members in downtown Chatham

A 31-year-old Tilbury woman is facing a pair of assault charges after she allegedly assaulted two staff members who were trying to remove her from a property in downtown Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police said they were called to the disturbance Monday afternoon.

When police arrived, the woman was arrested, charged, and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Wanted man arrested for shoplifting

A 45-year-old Chatham man who was already wanted on an outstanding warrant got himself into even more trouble Monday night.

CK police said they arrested him when they were following up on a shoplifting complaint at the Real Canadian Superstore on St. Clair Street in Chatham just before 8 p.m. Monday.

Police said they found the man a short distance away from the store and that's when they learned he was also wanted on an outstanding warrant.

The man was arrested and charged with theft, possession of stolen property, and failing to comply with his probation order.

He was later released from custody pending a future court date.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
