OPP contacted about bear sighting in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh

Huron County OPP confirm they were contacted about a bear sighting on Thursday, May 11, 2023.

The incident happened north of Goderich at 7:45 a.m near Ridge Drive near the Lake Huron Shoreline in the municipality of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh.

Police say the bear was not aggressive.

Members of the public are reminded to only call 9-1-1 in an emergency if they encounter a black bear. The Ministry of Natural Resources also has a reporting line that can be found at Ontario.ca.
