No injuries, damage estimated at $15K in Chatham garage fire

Damage is estimated at $15,000 after a garage fire at a Chatham home Tuesday afternoon.

Fire crews from two Chatham stations responded to the blaze at 27 Princess Street North around 2:20 p.m. on Tuesday.

When crews arrived, the garage was fully involved with flames spreading across the grass and to a neighbour's fence, according to Fire Public Educator Whitney Burke.

The garage and contents were completely destroyed as a result of the fire with an estimated value of $10,000.

Damage to neighbouring property is estimated at $5,000.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire and the cause has been listed as undetermined.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
