Man arrested after road rage incident

A man from Chatham faces several charges following a road rage incident.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged the 22-year-old male after an investigation revealed an imitation firearm was brandished on Communication Road near Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent on May 13, 2023.

Police said a suspect and the vehicle were later found in Chatham and a man was arrested by Chatham-Kent police.

The OPP and Chatham-Kent police then searched a home on Southend Crescent and seized ammunition, firearms, and a quantity suspected oxycodone.

The 22-year-old Chatham man was charged with assault with a weapon, using an imitation firearm while committing an offence, possession of an opioid for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, and failure to comply with a court order.

Police said nobody was hurt and nothing was damaged.

The accused was held for a bail hearing and was remanded into custody.

Police continue to investigate the incident and are asking anyone with information to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
