Wheatley man killed in fatal single-vehicle crash

Chatham-Kent police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that claimed the live of one person.

Police said emergency crews responded to the crash at around 9:43 p.m. Saturday on Ninth Line and Merlin Road.

The driver, a 27-year-old Wheatley man, was driving a vehicle westbound on Ninth Line when his vehicle collided with the ditch on the west side of Merlin Road.

Police said the drive sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Traffic Management Unit has taken over the investigation.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
