Six arrested after call for stolen property

Chatham-Kent police laid charges against half-a-dozen people at a Baxter Street residence on Saturday morning.

Just before 10:30 a.m., police were tipped that stolen property was being brought into the house.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found multiple stolen items and discovered there were unwanted people in the home.

Six people were arrested at the scene.

A 25-year-old Chatham man was charged for possession of stolen property.

The other five suspects each had warrants out for their arrest, according to police.

A 42-year-old Chatham woman was wanted for failing to comply with her release order. Police released her from the scene with a future court date.

Another 25-year-old man, a 26-year-old woman, and a 41-year-old woman - all from Chatham - were wanted individually for failing to attend court. They were all taken into custody and held for a bail hearing.

A 39-year-old Leamington man in the group was also arrested on a warrant, but police did not specify what he was wanted for. Police said he was taken into custody and released with conditions and a future court date.
