Ridgetown fatal hit and run case goes to trial

The man accused of killing a family matriarch in a hit and run in Ridgetown is going to trial.

John Wilson, 38, of Ridgetown, will have his trial date set on July 14, 2023.

Wendy Clark, 66 of Howard Township, was struck by a vehicle in broad daylight in late October 2022 and was airlifted to a Windsor hospital with life-threatening injuries and died two days later.

Clark was hit by a passing vehicle on October 19, 2022 as she was getting out of her own vehicle on Main Street, but the suspect vehicle took off.

Wilson has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, failing to remain at the scene of a collision resulting in bodily harm, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, and two Highway Traffic Act offences.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
