Pride flag stolen from Tilbury District High School

Chatham-Kent police are putting out a call for tips after someone stole a Pride flag from a school flag pole in Tilbury.

Police said it's believed the flag was stolen from Tilbury District High School sometime between June 16 and June 17.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the officer in charge of the investigation, Constable Alexis Masse, at alexisma@chatham-kent.ca or by calling 519-436-6600.

You can also submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Chatham-Kent police said they are taking the matter seriously and are committed to investigating it thoroughly.

A new online reporting tool was also recently launched by Chatham-Kent Victim Services to allow citizens to report acts of hate and discrimination across the municipality.

You can click here to submit a report.

It's not the first time Pride flags have been targeted at local schools, either.

The Lambton-Kent District School Board said threats were made toward the principal of Blenheim District High School (BDHS) and the building itself last month after a Pride flag was flown there.

The Pride flag was flown at BDHS on May 17 in honour of the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia.
