Chatham man accused of child luring

Chatham-Kent police have made an arrest in a child luring investigation that began earlier this month.

Officers have arrested and charged a 22-year-old Chatham man for allegedly luring a child online.

Police said members from the Internet Child Exploitation Unit began an investigation relating to the man luring a child under the age of 16 years old for a sexual purpose while using social media platforms.

A search warrant was executed at the man’s residence. He was arrested and was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police said the victim was identified and has been offered the necessary support.

The investigation is currently ongoing.
