One person arrested in late night robbery

A 42-year-old Walpole Island resident is facing a few charges after an alleged armed robbery on River Road late Monday night.

Lambton OPP and members of the Walpole Island Police Service were called to a business on River Road, between Tecumseh Road and Nadhee Lane, at 10:30 p.m. 

OPP said the robbery involved the use of a firearm and multiple specialty police units were deployed.

The Canine Unit tracked a suspect to a residence where the accused was arrested and later charged with robbery with a weapon and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

The accused was held in police custody pending a bail hearing.

OPP did not identify the person and said a name was being withheld to protect the integrity of the investigation.
