Break and enter in Thamesville

Police believe that a building on Wallace Street in Thamesville was broken into in the overnight hours between Saturday and Sunday.

Once inside, the unknown suspects stole various electronics and caused about $500 of damage, police said.

Theft charges laid in Chatham

Chatham-Kent police responded, at around 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, to a theft complaint at a business on St. Clair Street.

Police discovered that the suspect had gone through a self-checkout line and only scanned half of the items in his possession.

A 37-year-old man was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime.

Impaired driving

Police conducted a traffic stop on Third Street in Chatham, just before 1 a.m. on Sunday. During the stop, officers determined that a 27-year-old Chatham man had been driving while under the influence of alcohol.

He was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests. The man was charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
