Storm takes down trees in Blenheim, tornado investigators surveying damage

The cleanup continues after another powerful storm tore across Chatham-Kent Wednesday night.

As of early Thursday morning, Entegrus was still reporting a couple of small power outages in the Chatham and Ridgetown areas.

At last check, the biggest single outage was between Ridgetown and Blenheim with a pocket of about 1,000 Hydro One customers there who were still waiting for the lights to come back on.

Hydro One said crews have been dispatched and the latest estimates said the power should be back on by about noon on Thursday.

Meantime, the Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP) at Western University in London will be sending out a team Thursday morning to take a closer look at the damage done in Blenheim, specifically.

Anyone with reports of damage can send that to ntp@uwo.ca or you can send it to them through the Northern Tornadoes Project's website.

The NTP's Executive Director Dave Sills said on social media Wednesday evening that at first glance it looked like there may have been some rotation in the storm as it moved over Blenheim.
