Early morning house fire near Wallaceburg under investigation

No serious injuries are being reported after a fire broke out at a home on Highway 40 in Wallaceburg early Friday morning.

Chatham-Kent fire crews from Wallaceburg, Chatham, and Tupperville were all called to the scene at 27957 St. Clair Rd. shortly before 3:30 a.m. Friday and saw flames coming out of the first floor windows when they arrived.

CK fire officials said the firefighters were able to quickly knock the flames down and were able to ensure that the fire didn't spread into the second storey or the attic.

One person was taken to the hospital by paramedics, but that person has since been released.

Chatham-Kent fire investigators were still at the scene Friday morning and were not able to provide a damage estimate by the time of publication.

A section of Hwy. 40 was closed early Friday morning as a result of the emergency response to the fire, but the road re-opened at around 7 a.m. Friday.
