UPDATE: Zoning application approved, could pave the way for new subdivision

UPDATE: The application noted below was approved at a Chatham-Kent council planning meeting Monday night

Nearly 100 gross acres of vacant farmland located at the north end of Delaware Avenue, west of Idlewild Drive and south of Gregory Drive East, could become the newest subdivision in Chatham-Kent.

Single-detached, semi-detached, and row houses have all been proposed by Cherrygrove Community Inc. within the development.

Both the single-detached and semi-detached housing types require low-density residential zoning, while the row houses need medium-density residential zoning. Some of the proposed land already falls under the correct categories though a portion of it is designated Agricultural Area, requiring a vote from council on whether to approve the changes.

An application for those changes will go before council on Monday. The Director of Planning Services and Technical Advisory Committee have recommended the plan for approval.

If the development is approved the next step would be an application for Draft Plan of Subdivision.

This would include details such as servicing, roads, lot layout, and parkland dedication.
