Seven proves to be a lucky number for Tilbury resident

A 29-year-old Tilbury resident is getting a nice payday after winning big on a lottery ticket.

Derek Butler won the top prize of $77,777 on an Instant Lucky 7 ticket.

He told OLG staff he has been playing the lottery since he was 18 and this is his first big win.

"I gravitate towards tickets that catch my eye," said Butler, who discovered his big win after he went home. "I told my family, and they were surprised and happy for me. My dad told me I deserve this win, I was humbled to hear those words from him."

Butler is planning to buy a vehicle and then put the rest in savings.

The winning ticket was purchased at Mike's Carwash and Variety on Mill Street in Tilbury.
