UPDATE: Serious crash in Wallaceburg claimed a life

Chatham-Kent police are providing a tragic update on a serious crash in Wallaceburg.

CK police said a 73-year-old Walpole Island man died after a collision at the intersection of Main/Murray Street and Margaret Avenue shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers said the man was driving a vehicle eastbound on Margaret Avenue when he veered into oncoming traffic and hit a tow truck.

The 73-year-old man was rushed to the hospital in Wallaceburg for medical attention, but police said life-saving measures were unsuccessful and he was later pronounced dead.

Police said the man's name will not be released out of respect for the family's privacy.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service Traffic Unit is still investigating the collision and anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Joel Rehill at 519-355-1092 or [email protected].
