UPDATE: Serious crash in Wallaceburg claimed a life

Chatham-Kent police are providing a tragic update on a serious crash in Wallaceburg.

CK police said a 73-year-old Walpole Island man died after a collision at the intersection of Main/Murray Street and Margaret Avenue shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers said the man was driving a vehicle eastbound on Margaret Avenue when he veered into oncoming traffic and hit a tow truck.

The 73-year-old man was rushed to the hospital in Wallaceburg for medical attention, but police said life-saving measures were unsuccessful and he was later pronounced dead.

Police said the man's name will not be released out of respect for the family's privacy.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
