It looks like a strike has been averted at the casino in Chatham.

The union representing Chatham Cascades Casino workers, Unifor Local 444, announced Wednesday night that a tentative agreement was reached.

Unifor 444 said a ratification meeting will take place on Friday at 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. at the Moose Lodge at 850 Richmond Street in Chatham.

Workers voted 97 per cent in favour of strike action on November 15, 2023.

No other details are available at this time. However, workers at Starlight Casino Point Edward ratified their new contract last week and Unifor 444 said improvements were made in most areas of the agreement, including wages, benefits, and language improvements calling it a "healthy deal" that places member's pay and benefits in line with other Gateway Properties.
