UPDATE: Charge laid after crash closes Highway 401 near Chatham

Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment in Chatham have charged a Brampton truck driver with careless driving following a crash that closed all lanes of the eastbound Highway 401 in Chatham Sunday morning.

The OPP reported on Monday morning that a transport truck entered the centre median and rolled over on the eastbound 401 near Drake Road in Chatham.

Police said neither the 24-year-old driver nor the passenger were seriously hurt.

The OPP aid a section of the eastbound Highway 401 was closed for several hours to allow officers to investigate and to remove the big rig from the highway.

The OPP remind motorists that driving requires the driver's full undivided attention, consideration of all vehicles on the roadway, and awareness of changing weather, traffic, and road conditions.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
