Man wanted for breaching probation order arrested in Chatham

A 55-year-old Wallaceburg man who was wanted by police has been arrested.

Police said they got a tip at around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday about where the man was and arrested him.

He was wanted on several warrants for failing to comply with his probation order and is currently facing two counts each of uttering threats and failing to comply with a probation order.

Well-being check leads police to wanted man

A 27-year-old Chatham-Kent man who was wanted by police managed to get their attention by leaning over the Fifth Street Bridge in Chatham.

Officers said they were conducting a well-being check on the man just before 1 p.m. Wednesday and found that he was "under the influence of an unknown substance."

Police said they also confirmed that the same man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.

He was arrested and taken to police headquarters where he was set to be held pending a bail hearing.

Chatham man arrested in domestic violence case

A 30-year-old Chatham man is facing five assault-related charges after police were called to a disturbance in Chatham shortly before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers said when they arrived, they learned that a woman there had been assaulted multiple times in the past by a man.

Police arrested the man accused of hitting her and charged him with two counts of assault causing bodily harm and three additional counts of assault.

He was taken into custody and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
