CK police arrest Melbourne man accused of luring child via social media

A 39-year-old Melbourne man has been arrested and charged for allegedly luring a child online.

Chatham-Kent police said members of their Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit started their investigation in December 2023.

They were looking into allegations of a man luring a child under the age of 18 for a sexual purpose while using social media platforms.

Officers said their search led them to a Melbourne man's residence where they executed a search warrant on January 4 and arrested a suspect.

He was charged and was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police said the victim has been identified and was also "offered the necessary support."

CK police said there is no further information available at this time, adding that there is a publication ban in place limiting the information that can be released to the public.
