UPDATE: Wind warning in effect

A Wind Warning remains in effect for Elgin County, though a similar warning has ended in Chatham-Kent County.

The warning was issued Saturday morning and is expected to last until late Saturday night.

According to Environment Canada, areas next to the lake will see the strongest wind gusts, up to 110 kilometres per hour. Inland, gusts are expected to be in the 80 to 90 km/h range.

"High winds may result in power outages and fallen tree branches," the weather agency said. Adding that damage to buildings may occur and loose objects could also be tossed around.

If venturing outside, be cautious. Motorists, especially in high-profile vehicles, should expect hazardous driving conditions on highways due to strong cross winds.

Many other parts of the province are under winter storm warnings and snow squall watches, prompting further travel advisories.
