An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is looking for public feedback about the creation of a Dog Off-Leash Recreation Area (DOLRA) in the community of Tilbury.The proposal came from a local volunteer group. The intention is to transform the former ball diamond at Kirkham Park, on Lyon Avenue, into a fenced-in area where residents can exercise their dogs off-leash without violating local by-laws.Chatham-Kent has two designated DOLRAs: Happy Tails Off-Leash Dog Park, in Wallaceburg, and John Waddell Dog Park, in Chatham. A third park in Dresden has been approved, but construction has yet to start.The consultation period for the public is open until 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26.
