Off-leash dog park proposed for Tilbury

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is looking for public feedback about the creation of a Dog Off-Leash Recreation Area (DOLRA) in the community of Tilbury.

The proposal came from a local volunteer group. The intention is to transform the former ball diamond at Kirkham Park, on Lyon Avenue, into a fenced-in area where residents can exercise their dogs off-leash without violating local by-laws.

Chatham-Kent has two designated DOLRAs: Happy Tails Off-Leash Dog Park, in Wallaceburg, and John Waddell Dog Park, in Chatham. A third park in Dresden has been approved, but construction has yet to start.

The consultation period for the public is open until 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26. Residents can submit their thoughts here.
