CK Expo returns for 10th show

Chatham-Kent's pop culture show is celebrating its 10th event this weekend by expanding to two days.

CK Expo takes place at the John D Bradley Convention Centre this Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, April 28 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

"The feedback that I'm getting from people and talking, it's going to be a very, very big weekend," said organizer Rob Bellamy. "This is our 10th show, our 10th anniversary, so we wanted to go big, and two days seems like the best answer to that."

Bellamy said they have a lot planned, including a giant costume contest.

"A cosplay contest they call it. Over $2,000 in prizes from our sponsors Len's Mill Stores, and Lindy's Cosplay Supplies. We have a lot of guests coming in, a couple of rally cool vehicles. The Impala from Supernatural, and the General Lee, but a Canadian version," he said.

Degrassi fans won't want to miss the mini Degrassi reunion.

"We have Pat, Stacey, and Dan, who played Joey Jeremiah, Caitlin, and Mr. Raditch. They are all going to be here this weekend. With all of our guests, they are going to have tables where you can come up and meet them, and get signed pictures if you like. We do have photo ops with everybody," Bellamy said.

Bellamy added that one of his favourite actresses is coming.

"My favourite movie is Aliens, well next to Star Wars, and Terminator 2. So Jenette Goldstein is going to be here, and that's kind of got be geeking out just a bit. In the original Alien she was Vazquez, and then in Terminator 2 she was John Connor's foster mom," he said.

Tickets are $15 a day in advance or $20 at the door.
