Chatham man arrested for alleged domestic assault

A 30-year-old Chatham man is facing charges after he allegedly assaulted a woman during an argument.

Chatham-Kent police said they arrested him after they were called to Keil Drive South in Chatham for a disturbance shortly before noon on Thursday.

Investigators learned that the man and woman had been arguing when things escalated to the point where the man allegedly assaulted the woman.

Officers said the woman was able to get away and she was the one who called police.

The accused was arrested and charged with assault, assault causing bodily harm, and uttering threats.

He was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Wanted man arrested in Chatham

A 28-year-old Chatham-Kent man is spending some more time in police custody after he was picked up for allegedly violating his bail.

CK police said he was also wanted in several theft investigations.

Officers said they found the man at around 3 p.m. Thursday on Wellington Street West in Chatham.

Police confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant from earlier this month and took him into custody pending a bail hearing.

He is currently facing a dozen charges including five counts each of theft and possession of stolen property and one count each of mischief and failing to comply with a release order.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
