Advance voter turnout down in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex by-election

Fewer voters took the opportunity to cast their ballot early during the by-election for Lambton-Kent- Middlesex than the 2022 general election.

Advance polls were held from April 21 to April 26.

Preliminary numbers from Elections Ontario found 4,976 voters cast their ballot early compared to 9,820 in 2022.

There are still options to cast a ballot before election day.

Voters can go to Amy's Restaurant at 28537 Centre Road in Strathroy or the Chatham-Kent Satellite Office at 11-60 McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg.

Eight candidates are vying for the vacant spot.

Steve Pinsonneault for the Conservatives, Cathy Burghardt-Jesson for the Liberals, Kathryn Shailer for the Ontario NDP's, Andraena Tilgner for the Green Party, Keith Benn for the New Blue Party, Stephen Cambbell for the None of the Above Direct Democracy Party, Hilda Walton for the Family Rights Party and Cynthia Workman for the Ontario Party.

Election day will be held on May 2.

Voters are reminded to bring their voter information card and a piece of ID.

Those without a voter information card can still vote as long as they have one piece of ID hat has your name and current home address.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
