Two arrested in Walpole Island weapons call

Charges have been laid following a weapons investigation on Walpole Island First Nation.

Lambton OPP and members of the Walpole Island Police Service were called to a Tecumseh Road location between Creek Road and Chiefs Road on Monday, shortly after 9 p.m.

Officers contained the area and called in the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team, and Canine Unit.

OPP said two people were eventually arrested. A search warrant was later executed, however, additional details were not provided.

Two Walpole Island residents, a 19-year-old and a 21-year-old, were charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The two have since been released from police custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on July 11.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
