UPDATE: Collision on Charing Cross Road kills two

Two women died Saturday following an evening crash.

According to police, a vehicle travelling north on Charing Cross Road crashed into two pedestrians near Horton Line at around 7 p.m.

Police said Tuesday that the women had stopped their car on the side of the road to help a turtle when they were struck. Adding that the driver who hit them stayed at the scene and called 911.

First responders attempted to save the lives of the pedestrians, but the two women died of their injuries.

Police confirmed that the women were 66 and 68 years old.

Police continue to investigate.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
