St. Clair Region Conservation Authority issues flood outlook

A flood outlook was issued by the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA) Sunday evening.

Water levels are expected to increase because of severe thunderstorms that are possible for much of Southwestern Ontario.

The SCRCA is calling for the potential of minor flooding into natural floodplain areas, parks and fields.

Major flooding is not expected at this time.

It is possible the region could see up to 30 millimeters of rain with the potential for higher amounts in localized areas.

The SCRCA is also warning that flash flooding and ponding may occur.

Individuals are being told to avoid watercourses and flooded areas because of dangerous conditions, slippery banks and swift, cold moving water.

Children and pets should also be kept away from the water.

The outlook will remain in effect until 12 p.m. Monday.
