The hospital in Wallaceburg is receiving some very generous support for its redevelopment at the site.
Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation (CKHAF) said the Sydenham District Hospital Auxiliary has pledged $100,000 to the CKHAF Wallaceburg Site Redevelopment Fund.
The foundation said the pledge will help equip the hospital to better meet the needs of healthcare delivery today and into the future.
“This generous pledge is a testament to the hard work of all these wonderful volunteers, and to the Auxiliary’s unwavering dedication to advancing healthcare in the Wallaceburg community,” said CKHAF President and CEO Christine Mitchell. “This support means the world to our Foundation as we continue to raise funds in support of this $9 million campaign to cover the community’s local share of this crucial project that will have such a profound impact on the healthcare landscape here in Wallaceburg.”
The first $35,000 installment was paid on June 24, 2024, according to CKHAF.
“We have a small and mighty group of volunteers who are passionate about this community and hospital,” said Auxiliary Chair Mari Cole. “We are proud to support such a worthy cause and look forward to a bright future for local healthcare here in Wallaceburg.”
The auxiliary operates the Serendipity Gift Shop at the Wallaceburg hospital.
Wallaceburg hospital's estimated $41 million redevelopment includes a new building with an emergency department, new diagnostic imaging and rehabilitation areas, medical beds, ambulatory care, and a laboratory.
