Canada wins first medal in fencing

Eleanor Harvey has won Canada's first-ever medal in fencing at the Olympics.

Harvey won bronze in the women's individual foil event defeating Italy's Alice Volpi 15-12 in the third place match.

The 29 year-old carried a winning record into the match, winning four of their previous seven meetings.

Harvey was up 3-0 before Volpi could put a point on the board.

The 29 year-old had her Olympic debut in Rio in 2016 where she achieved Canada's best-ever Olympic result in any individual fencing event.

She placed seventh in the women's individual foil event during those games making it as far as the quarter finals.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
