Break-in call leads to drug trafficking charges

Two Chatham men have been arrested for breaking and entering on Bloomfield Road near Eight Line in Raleigh Township.

Just after 1:00 a.m. Monday morning, police responded to a call where the two men were observed via surveillance breaking into a property.

When officers arrived, the two men fled at a high rate of speed and continued to flee on foot after their vehicle was intercepted.

After a short foot chase, the two men were taken into custody.

Officers recovered the stolen property, along with ammunition, prescription drugs, methamphetamine, and suspected cocaine.

They have been charged with multiple infractions including, break and enter, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of stolen property.

Man and woman arrested for bail violations

A man and a woman have been arrested for bail violations after being caught together in a business on Park Avenue West in Chatham.

Just before 3 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to an unrelated call and while at the location found the man and woman together.

Officers confirmed the 46-year-old Chatham woman was bound by a release order prohibiting her from communicating and being in the presence of the man.

The 43-year-old Chatham-Kent man was also bound by a probation order prohibiting him from communicating or being in the presence of the woman.

The two were arrested and transported to police headquarters.

The woman was charged with failing to comply with a release order, while the man was charged with failing to comply with a probation order.

Man arrested for impaired driving

A Wallaceburg man has been arrested for impaired driving after a single-vehicle collision involving his motorcycle.

At 8:00 p.m. Sunday emergency crews responded to the scene on Margaret Avenue in Wallaceburg, with the motorcycle driver being taken to hospital.

The officer believed the man to be under the influence of alcohol and when asked to do a breathalyzer, he refused to comply and was arrested.

The 24-year-old was charged with impaired driving and released with a future court date.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
