Hwy. 401 closed as OPP investigate fatal collision

The westbound lanes of Highway 401 are closed at County Road 42 (Exit 56) in Lakeshore as the Ontario Provincial Police investigate a fatal collision.

Around 10:20 a.m. Friday, police were called to a multi-vehicle accident in the westbound lanes of Hwy. 401 between Gracey Side Road and Comber Side Road. This crash resulted in only minor injuries.

While officers were investigating the collision, a secondary collision occurred involving two tractor-trailers and a pickup truck.

The driver of a tractor-trailer died on the scene. The driver of a pickup truck was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the second tractor-trailer was uninjured.

Police are looking for witnesses to the crash. Anyone who has dashcam footage of the collision is asked to contact Lakeshore OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
