Cyclist killed near Tilbury

A cyclist has been struck and killed just west of Tilbury.

Essex OPP say it happened just after 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

"On September 3, 2024, at 7:11 p.m., members of the Essex County Ontario Provincial Police, Chatham-Kent Paramedic Service and local Fire, were dispatched to Morris Road between Richardson Side Road and Lee Ave in Lakeshore Township for the report of a serious collision involving a vehicle and a cyclist," police said in a news release issued Wednesday morning. "The cyclist was transported to hospital where they were later pronounced deceased."

The OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team attended the scene to assist with the investigation.

Police closed the road for approximately six hours overnight, but it has since re-opened.
