Two drivers charged, over 100 tickets handed out in CK over long weekend

Nearly 140 tickets were handed out to drivers in Chatham-Kent over the Thanksgiving long weekend.

CK police took part in 'Operation Impact,' a national campaign aimed at making roads across the country safe for everyone.

They decided to hold two Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) spot checks in the municipality.

In total, 137 drivers received tickets for various offences.

Two drivers were also charged with impaired driving. Each received a 90-day license suspension and had their vehicles impounded for seven days.

"The Chatham-Kent Police would like to remind motorists that although this campaign has come to an end, road safety remains a priority and officers will continue to focus on behaviours that put all road users at risk," read a message from CK police.

Individuals who witness potentially impaired driving are urged to call 9-1-1.
