Affordable housing in Blenheim nears completion

Blenheim's first family Community Housing Build is in the final stages of construction and applications are open.

The three-storey building, located at 36 McGeorge Street, should be ready for families to move in by February 2025.

There will be a total of 17 units including nine 3-bedroom units, six accessible 3-bedroom units, and two 4-bedroom units. The building will be smoke-free and will also include patios or balconies, parking, and pay-per-use laundry facilities.

According to the municipality, he development's location is also ideal for families as it's located near local schools, daycare centres, parks, a splash pad, and the community arena.

Families with two or more children and an annual income of $52,500 or less qualify for a 3-bedroom unit, and families who make $61,000 or less are eligible for a 4-bedroom unit.
