CK police vet appointed to Deputy Chief position

Chatham-Kent will soon have a new Deputy Chief of Police.

After a rigorous hiring process, the Chatham-Kent Police Services Board (CKPSB) said the decision to appoint Inspector Jason Chickowski was unanimous.

Chickowski has spent 24 years with the Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS).

CKPSB Chair Patrick Weaver cited Chickowski's wealth of experience, dedication, and leadership as some of the reasons for his selection.

"Throughout his career, Jason has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to our members, public safety, and a deep understanding of our community," Weaver said in a statement. "Jason has vast experience across all aspects of our organization and has been instrumental in a number of initiatives and projects."

Some of the duties of the Deputy Chief include overseeing all four branches of CKPS and maintaining good relationships with members of the public and community partners.

"We are confident [Jason's] leadership will positively impact our members, our community, and help us meet the challenges of the future," Weaver added.

Chickowski will take over the position on December 1, 2024.
