CKHA x-ray hours expanding due to long wait times

Longer than normal wait times for diagnostic imaging has prompted Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) to extend hospital hours.

Patients in need of x-rays can now go to the Chatham site from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. In Wallaceburg, the hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Patients needing an Ultrasound must get an appointment through the CKHA Patient Appointment Office.

CKHA said that the longer wait times are "due to an external labour disruption in Chatham."

Unionized workers with Clear Medical Imaging (CMI) have been on strike since October 25. That includes the CMI site in Chatham.

About 130 workers, who work as x-ray and ultrasound technologists, clerical and administrative staff have hit the picket line.
