Two in hospital after a pair of crashes in heavy fog

The Ontario Provincial Police are investigating two collisions in Essex County on Wednesday morning, including one that sent two people to the hospital.

The first crash shut down County Road 42 between Gracey Side Road and Edgefield Side Road in Lakeshore around 7 a.m. when a transport truck collided with a minivan.

Constable Steve Duguay told WindsorNewsToday.ca that paramedics treated minor injuries at the scene.

The second crash closed Hwy. 77 between Mersea Road 8 and Mersea Road 10 in Leamington not long after the first collision. A dump truck collided with a vehicle, sending two people to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both collisions occurred during heavy fog that blanketed the region early Wednesday morning.

Both County Road 42 and Hwy. 77 are open now.
