Dresden couple welcomes CK's first baby of 2025

The first Chatham-Kent baby born in 2025 is a girl named Addison.

The seven pound, seven ounce bundle of joy was born on New Year’s Day at 8:48 a.m. at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance to Paige and Tim Pickering of Dresden.

Mom Paige Weierstall told CK News Today that Addison Alexandra Maria Pickering was born about a week and a half early.

"She was due on the 9th of January and I went into labour on the 31st, but I didn't know that I was in labour. I thought they [the pains] were false labour," said Weierstall.

Weierstall said Alexandra is also her middle name and Maria is Tim’s mother’s middle name.

Paige said thankfully the birth was really quick because there was another baby about to be born New Year’s Day at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

"Ironically, our nurse told our baby before she was actually born that she'd better hurry up, otherwise she wouldn't be the first born [in 2025] -- 12 minutes later she came," Paige said.

Baby Addison also has a big brother named Emerson.

Mother and baby are doing well.
