Charges laid after police seize loaded guns, drugs

A Chatham man has been arrested and charged after a drug bust in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police said the Intelligence Unit arrested a 42-year-old man on Wednesday with the help of the Emergency Response Team during a traffic stop stemming from a drug investigation.

Police noted officers found a loaded .40 calibre Glock handgun inside the vehicle along with 129 grams of cocaine, six oxycodone tablets, and a digital scale.

Then 30 minutes later during a search of the suspect's home on Pearl Crescent in Chatham, members of the Intelligence Unit also discovered a loaded .22 caliber revolver, eight grams of methamphetamine, 0.7 grams of fentanyl, 1.4 grams of cocaine, 15 codeine tablets, 26 clonazepam tablets, 47 tabs of lysergic acid, debt lists, and several rounds of ammunition.

The total street value of the controlled substances is estimated as $13,000, according to police.

The man was charged with several drug possession and trafficking offences.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff
