Police arrest last suspect in Chatham housing complex arson

A man wanted by Chatham-Kent police on arson charges related to a housing complex fire in Chatham has been arrested.

Police said Leonard Greason, 48, of London was arrested Wednesday afternoon in St. Thomas.

Greason was wanted on the charge of arson with disregard for human life in connection with the fire at 99 McNaughton Avenue West in Chatham on August 25, 2024.

He was found and arrested by St. Thomas police and was brought to Chatham-Kent police headquarters, according to CK police.

Greason was in Chatham court for a bail hearing Thursday morning. He remains in custody and will make his next court appearance in Chatham on Tuesday.

Greason is not to have contact or communicate with nearly 20 people, including co-accused Erin Ott.

Ott, 30, of Chatham is still going through the court system on the same charge of arson with disregard for human life. Ott will also make her next court appearance in Chatham on Tuesday. She was released on bail in October.
