Plenty of snow and freezing rain coming this week

Another blast of winter weather is headed for southwestern Ontario.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the entire region for Wednesday and Thursday.

The weather agency is tracking a low-pressure system that will bring snowfall to the region, with some areas seeing freezing rain as well.

Up to ten centimetres are possible as of early Monday evening in the southern part of the region, while up to 40 centimetres could be seen in the north.

"At this point, the path of the low-pressure system is still uncertain, which will affect exact snowfall amounts," read the statement from Environment Canada. "Hazardous travel conditions are likely. Motorists are urged to consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve."

Drivers may see heavy or blowing snow that will cut visibility down, along with icy roads that may make things slippery.

The statement may be updated as the system's path becomes more clear.
