More than a helpline, 211 is a lifeline

February 11 marks 211 day.

The United Way uses the day to raise awareness about the free, confidential helpline that can connect individuals and families to vital community resources.

"211 is more than a helpline - it's a lifeline for people facing difficult circumstances," said Lorraine Goddard, CEO of United Way Centraide Windsor-Essex Chatham-Kent. "We are proud to fund this critical service in Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent, ensuring everyone in our community has access to the support they need when they need it."

The service, supported by the United Way, can put people in touch with food banks or meal services, housing support, mental health services, or help with navigating complex systems.

The helpline is available multiple ways:

  • Phone - Dial 2-1-1 to speak with a trained Community Navigator

  • Online - Visit 211.ca to search for resources in your area

  • Text/Chat - Many services also offer text and live chat for convenience

"Life can be unpredictable," Goddard said. "211 ensures no one has to face challenges alone."

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
