Chatham man arrested after stolen motorcycle breaks down on Highway 401

A Chatham man is facing a handful of charges after provincial police followed up on a call about a motorcycle that was driving "erratically" on Highway 401.

Elgin County OPP said they received the tip shortly before 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and found the motorcycle disabled on the shoulder of the westbound lanes of the highway in Chatham-Kent.

Officers said their investigation showed the vehicle had been reported stolen from Stratford.

Police arrested a 21-year-old Chatham man in the case and he was charged with possession of property obtained by crime, possession of an identity document, and driving a motor vehicle without a licence.

The accused was later released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a future date to answer to the charges.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
