Sentencing in Chatham attempted murder case put off until April

A Chatham man, who pleaded guilty to attempted murder in December, will return to Chatham court in April for a sentencing hearing.

Clinton Willder, 28, was charged with attempted murder along with arson with disregard for human life and break and enter after a fire at a Park Street residence in Chatham around 8 a.m. on March 10, 2024.

Willder entered a guilty plea on the attempted murder charge on December 6, 2024.

On Wednesday at the Chatham courthouse, his sentencing hearing was put off until April 23, 2025.

Chatham-Kent police previously reported that a tenant was discovered inside the building on Park Street unconscious and with life-threatening injuries unrelated to the deliberately set fire and was taken to safety by Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue Services.

Willder was arrested on March 11, 2024.
