Two-vehicle crash near Wheatley under investigation

Essex County OPP is investigating a two-vehicle collision on Wheatley Road early Monday morning.

Chatham-Kent police said they were called to the scene at around 5:30 a.m. Monday, but the scene was turned over to OPP because the crash took place on the west side of the road, which is under the jurisdiction of provincial police.

OPP said four people were taken to the hospital as a precaution with non-life threatening injuries.

There is no word yet on whether charges will be laid.

Wheatley break-in is the Crime of the Week

Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers is looking for tips from the public after someone broke into the Home Hardware on Julian Street in Wheatley over the weekend.

CK police officers were called to the scene at around 6 a.m. Sunday for a break-and-enter in progress.

Crime Stoppers said it was reported that a masked male broke into the store, causing about $2,000 in damage, and then took off with about $1,160 worth of products.

The suspect fled the scene in a grey GMC SUV.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
