Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is reaffirming Canada's support for Ukraine during its war with Russia.
He spoke to reporters on Sunday in London, England after taking part in a summit with other world leaders to try and create a peace plan.
Trudeau started by saying Ukraine is doing what any country would do if they were invaded.
"Ukraine is not just defending its own territories, [they're] defending the very principles and values that underpin all of our democracies," he explained.
His comments come after Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a heated confrontation with U.S. President Donald Trump in the Oval Office. Trump told Zelensky Ukraine was in no position to continue the fight without U.S. support and was "gambling with World War III."
Trump had previously called Zelensky a dictator for not holding an election since the start of the war, despite Ukrainian law stating they can't while under Martial law.
Trudeau said any critism of this situation should go to Russia.
"Russia continues to fight to try and claim more land in Ukraine and we could see an end to this war if Russia decided to stop its illegal invasion of Ukraine," he said.
He also called Russia President Vladimir Putin a criminal and a liar who can't be trusted.
Meanwhile, Trudeau noted all options are still on the table when it comes to supporting Ukraine.
He wouldn't go as far as saying troops would be on the ground, a move British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said his country would do if a peace deal is made.
